A RECENT CLIENT CONVERSATION

GoView has some of the best specs of any system when it comes to mobile, rapid deploy, surveillance technology. In fact, with such amazing specs many people would expect that the cost of our system would be double or triple that of our leading competitor. Our systems have been engineered to set the bar high. In a conversation I had recently with a client, we were discussing battery capacity and how the GoView system compares to other systems on the market. The client said something like, "Your system specs look amazing, but is it over engineered?" In other words, - Does your system really need 4 times the backup battery and does this increase the cost unnecessarily?  

OUR RESPONSE 

We can see why you would have this question.  In today's cost environment we automatically assume that a system with 4 times the backup battery might have 4x the cost. It is a great question and here is the answer. Many of our competitors are having to run backup generators regularly just to keep their systems functional during the winter months and during periods of stormy weather. While our top level system may not be needed in "sun belt" solar zones, they are absolutely necessary in North American zones 1, 2, and 3.  A fuel cell generator can run $8000-10000 per system which is a very cost inefficient way to solve the problem of needing more power for your system.  Now there are cases where a backup generator is necessary.  When a system is located in an area where it will not receive any sun say for example, it is blocked by a 50 story building and there is no chance of the solar panel ever getting direct sunlight.  In these cases GoView systems will also need backup generators.  

A mobile surveillance system is only as good as it's ability to generate power and we take this seriously. We gave this same attention to detail to each and every feature of our systems.

THE PROBLEM

Many outdoor sites present significant challenges for electronic security solutions.  At GoView we have decades of experience securing outdoor facilities but most of our experience was for long-term solutions.  We would bury conduit and run lines to long range beam detection devices.  Part of GoView's mission is to create rapid deploy solutions that can be setup quickly and provide immediate protection.  Some of the challenges for outdoor security are:

THE SOLUTION

The result is GoView created a rugged easy to deploy alarm system. It is wireless and can run for months without being plugged in.  We use a Verizon based cellular connection to transmit signals and pictures alarms to our central station for live monitoring.  So when you have a construction site that can't be covered from a vantage point, there is now another option.  Sensors instantly detect the intrusion from up to 1 mile away from the main control box. Alarms activate and flash strobe lights and sirens while a live dispatcher views images from the image sensor motion detectors.  If the alarm was caused by an intruder, police are dispatched to the location.

Planning

Every project starts with planning. At GoView we use specialized industry software for this purpose. We overlay your site plan on satellite imagery. The software automatically scales the plan. We can select the exact camera model and place it onto the map. We can test various cameras and determine the most effect location for the trailer or pole mount system. We can show you exactly what a face or license plate will look like at any distance from the surveillance unit. This is crucial to ensure the system meets or exceeds your expectations and accomplishes the goal of protecting the site.


Equipment

Without the proper equipment even the best plan could fail.  Many providers deploy systems that are not capable of meeting the objective intended. This is where experience comes into play.  We often find that a mobile unit from another provider has been improperly placed or that the site cannot be adequately covered with 1 unit. Construction site theft is estimated to be 1 Billion annually in the USA.  Additionally history as shown that as the economy slows, crime increases.  During the 2008 recession, crime increase significantly.  The is a double blow to businesses and especially contractors and those in the construction industry.  Economists believe we will dip into a recession during the year 2024 at the same time, rising interest rates are increasing borrowing costs for those interested in residential and commercial construction projects.  This will likely lead to many projects being postponed.


As projects become more scarce and competition increases contractors must ensure the projects run smoothly and control losses due to theft, fire, and injuries.  This increases the need for monitored video surveillance.  Budget constraints require that businesses do more with less labor.  Monitored surveillance has proven to be effective at stopping or reducing construction site theft.
